Rogue Sounds- Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite (Free Album Download)

Rogue Sounds is an established instrumental rock trio from Anaheim, California with a desire to make instrumental rock more accessible to music fans. Combining the post-metal cinematic sludge of Isis, the astral and ethereal soundscapes of Junius, and the grandiose instrumental schizophrenia of Russian Circles, Rogue Sounds is an amalgam of experimental noise from some of the most respected mad scientists of moody metal.

On their new album, Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite, Rogue Sounds deliver an onslaught of constantly evolving compositions that orbits one corner of the rock and roll universe to another in a matter of minutes, cycling from metal to industrial to space rock to drum and bass and back again. Songs like "Wormsign" and "25th Parallel North" illuminate the band's best attributes, which are soaring compositions laced with spacey guitar work and punishing hard rock percussion.

Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite is available as a free digital download, but can also be purchased (pre-ordered) on vinyl. From the same store, Rogue Sounds have a few awesome t-shirts and other records available for purchase.

Red Fang- Hank is Dead (Video)

Here is the video for "Hank Is Dead" taken from the album 'Murder The Mountains' - available now on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse Records.

Check out our past coverage of Red Fang: "Prowling through the progressive pines of the Pacific Northwest are independent metal's best kept secret-- Red Fang. This uber talented quartet took their collective talents and experiences from their former bands and formed like Voltron to create a new powerhouse in Portland's rock and roll scene. Instead of regurgitating past methods and influences, Red Fang agreed to build their sound around what initially inspired them to become musicians in the first place-- heavy, galvanizing hard rock and roll that is accessible and straight forward, as well as sophisticated and layered. This infectious form of metal is consummately displayed in their latest record, Murder The Mountains, released April 2011 on the acclaimed Relapse Records label."

60 Second Review: A Record of Hate

When people think about the state of New Hampshire, what do they picture? Cows? Farms? Country folk? Certainly not the most brutal band their ears will ever hear. That’s exactly what A Record of Hate is. Hailing from Manchester, New Hampshire, this Death/Thrash Metal band are pumping out a sound that would force the most seasoned vets in the metal world to do a double take. If there were ever a soundtrack to the zombie apocalypse, “This Is War” would be it. Vocalist Tyler Smith spews out the most gut wrenching growls that sound like they come straight from the depths of hell. “Evil” is the second of three tracks released so far and the drum work alone is enough to make your head explode. “Evil” also displays brilliantly fast guitars with an unexpected solo that breaks up the song nicely.

To put it bluntly, AROH scares the shit out of me and I love it.

The Crow Murder (Metal) -- A five piece metal band rising out of the cultural melting pot that is the UAE. Bringing together a vast diversity of influences The Crow Murder creates a sound all of their own. Started at the end of 2008 so still a band in its infancy they have quickly established a good fan base in the UAE. Renowned for their energetic live shows in the region this band is hell bent on securing their position as the next big thing to come out of the current metal surge from the Middle East.

Red Fang

Prowling through the progressive pines of the Pacific Northwest are independent metal's best kept secret-- Red Fang. This infectious form of metal is consummately displayed in their latest record, Murder The Mountains, released April 2011 on the acclaimed Relapse Records label.

Murder the Mountains' 10-track body is piss drunk off of thundering, down-tempo, psychedelic sludge and splashes of vintage metal. The sound is one half Mastadon, one half Black Sabbath mixed warm and chased down slow with a case of hot Pabst. The hangover will have you hallucinating, but the trip through layers of thick heavy metal riffs, distortion, rumbling drums, and contagious vocals are well worth the after affects. If the first go around didn't blow you away enough, wait for the second and third spin as the record slowly unveils its true self, revealing numerous nuances and exciting arrangements that you most likely didn't catch before.

Red Fang has accomplished one of the best and accessible hard rock albums I have heard in years. Combine their experience, talent, taste, and charisma and you have one unstoppable metal monster that is ready to take over the planet and put Portland on the map for something other than dirty hippies and coffee.

Below is the awesome video for the single "Wires":

This Week on BandSoup (5/30 - 6/6)

Another week in the books and yet another week of great uploads here on BandSoup! Here are a few of the bands that you must hear in case you missed them spinning in the bowl. Remember, you can always click "more songs" on the main page or click into the search box, press the space bar once, and hit enter to see the latest uploads in order.

Click the band's name to hear their music!

Rachel Louise (Singer/Songwriter) -- Rachel is currently residing in the Netherlands and working hard on her debut album. Her songs reveal the expertise of a songwriter and artist beyond her 21 years. Her stage performance is thoroughly entertaining as she is able to relate to an audience of all ages on a personal level. Rachel Louise is a singer/songwriter with pop influences comparable to Maria Mena, Adele, and Vanessa Carlton.

Teenage Kicks (Rock) -- Hailing from Toronto, the quartet - vocalist/guitarist Peter Van Helvoort, bassist Jeff Van Helvoort, guitarist Pat Marchent and drummer Cameron Brunt - satisfy all aspects of the rock spectrum within the confined space of their EP's six songs. Here is a song from the EP, Rational Anthems.

Count to Four (Pop Punk) -- Remember the first time you heard Jimmy Eat World? How about Anberlin? Or when you got your hands on an old Fall Out Boy record? Count to Four knows that feeling: launching out of the real world and into the pop punk universe. A place where even the most vexing problems could be solved or at least addressed in three-minute blasts of galloping drums, charging guitars and lyrics that sound like they’re being sung from the top of a mountain.

Hail Mary Mallon (Alternative Hip Hop) -- After years of performing live together and appearing on each other’s solo albums, critically acclaimed mc’s/producers Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic, along with DJ Big Wiz, come together as Hail Mary Mallon and deliver their Rhymesayers debut Are You Gonna Eat That?.

Shes Got a Habit (Indie Pop) --
The trio began developing their sound, playing with a mix of live drums, samples, and layered voices. They shared a background in hip-hop and jazz and wanted to fuse the heavy beats and lush production styles they loved with softer, more intimate, sounds. The blend they found is both dreamy and momentous, combining hushed vocals and room sounds with glowing synths and huge drums.

GraveRobbers (Americana/Alt-Country) --
While the band prefers to remain ‘genre-less’, you can’t help but tag them with labels like ‘americana’, ‘country’, ‘indie’, and even ‘folk.’ After a handful of different ‘demos’ of home recordings, GraveRobbers recently hit the studio and recorded 12 songs; releasing a 7 song EP entitled “Black Market EP.” With plans for the remaining 5 songs, they are already writing new material and making plans for yet another recording session.

Co$$ (Hip Hop) --
Troy “Co$$” Johnson was born on the South Westside of Los Angeles in a small community east of Crenshaw called “Leimert Park” one of the United State’s top spots for Jazz and home to many of LA‘s finest hip hop artists. He started rapping at the age of 14. These are tracks from his latest free mix tape, Sleepwalking.

Full Crate & Mar (Neo Soul) --
Full Crate (Producer) and Mar (Singer) team up to bring you an incredible blend of sultry soul, hip hop, and R & B.

Itchy Hearts (Folk/Indie Rock) --
Quirky and infectious indie folk from Richmond, Virginia (now residing in Brooklyn, NY).

Red Fang (Rock) --
Red Fang deals in kick-ass heavy rock. On their Chris Funk (DECEMBERISTS) produced, Vance Powell (KINGS OF LEON, WHITE STRIPES, RACONTEURS) mixed Relapse debut Murder the Mountains, the quartet wave a middle finger at fashion and bet the proverbial house on substance over style. The incredible “Wires”, “Number Thirteen”, "Hank Is Dead", and "The Undertow" are just a few of an onslaught of highlights on this front-to-back set of great f%$king songs.

Balor's Eye (Tech Metal) -- With no musical, political, or societal agenda, Balor’s Eye is merely striving to write great music for people to enjoy. Many bands plan out their style, or what kind of songs they want to write, or a certain aspect of uniqueness they want to embody, but Balor’s Eye is simply four dudes pushing themselves as far as possible musically. With the utmost respect for music and dedication to their craft, they create a sound that is very progressive, powerful, technical, groovy, and authentic.

Sky Came Burning (Metal) --  Founded in June 2009, Sky Came Burning is the premier 5 piece metalcore band fresh out of Baltimore. They're looking to change the industry by bringing classic rock/metal roots mixed with today’s heavy/metalcore style to give you a very unique sound and performance.

Remember, you can always click "more songs" on the main page or click into the search box, press the space bar once, and hit enter to see the latest uploads in order.

Click on the artist name below to listen.

Seven Summits (Indie Rock) -- Seven Summits are Rory Nellis, Dominic Coyle, Francis McCrory and Joe Laverty. They use a range of guitar & synth sounds to create melody-driven alternative music.

The band had a busy year in 2010. After their solid self-titled debut, they recruited some new members and were put forward to play the BBC introducing Stage at Glastonbury. In December, to top off a great year, Seven Summits released their first single, “Burning Heart”, to critical acclaim.

Drama King (Instrumental Rock/Guitarist) -- 7 new instrumental rock tracks from Drama King. Great guitar work on "Option Explicit".

Galaxicon (Sludge/Metal) -- Although often lumped in with the burgeoning doom/sludge/riff-worship scene, Galaxicon's take on heavy music is equal parts death/black metal and prog/classic rock. It is loud, destructive, experimental, but deliberate, meticulously constructed to convey something more than just "heavy." Songs such as "Rapture of the Deep" and "A Man Should Remember His Past" offer crushing riffs, atmospheric blackened melodies, and dynamic shifts in phrasing and syncopation.

The Heavy Empty (Instrumental Rock- Looking for Lead Singer) -- A melodic rock band that just released a great demo album full of infectious instrumentals. They may or may not be looking for a lead singer-- interested? (New York City area)

Holy City Zoo (Alternative Rock/Post-Punk) -- 4 dudes from New Brunswick, New Jersey that make highly energetic tunage.

Mercury in Summer (Pop Rock) -- Mercury in Summer is a critically acclaimed Art-Pop band from Washington D.C. Their new album "In Your Face" was recently released on iTunes on May 17th. The video for this song can be seen here.

Killing Grace (Southern Rock) -- Killing Grace is a Hard Rock originals band started in Middle Tennessee in 2006 by Matthew Dee Edmondson, Clarksville, TN (songwriting/ lead vocals/ production); Doug Barnes, Franklin, TN (songwriting/ guitar/ production); and Lee Darby, Hendersonville, TN (song arrangements/ percussion/ production). The mission for these three Middle Tennessee artists was to compose original Hard Rock Arena Anthems that are diverse, fresh and hot.

Rosebud (Indie Rock) -- Check out their great single, "You Dance Like You Fuck".

Big Jaw (Alternative Rock) -- Big Jaw sounds like The James Gang sharing a Coke and two straws with Queens of the Stone Age.

Vices I Admire (Alternative Rock) -- Vices I Admire is an alternative/indie rock band straight outta Denver CO. Download their latest album for as little as 1¢. Check out 6 tracks from the band at the link above.

Farewell Disaster (Alternative Rock) -- A hard hitting rock band from Macon, Georgia that are currently promoting their new album, Disbelief.

Skint and Demoralised (Indie Pop) -- Lyric-based alternative indie/pop 5-piece based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. New album 'This Sporting Life' due out early July.

SMB Project (Alternative Rock) -- Floaty dreampop sequences mixed with blasts of shoegaze reverb characterize SMB Project, a four piece alt rock group based in Orlando, Florida. SMBP is often likened to early 90s rockers such as Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, and the Pixies, as well as current indie shoegaze pop groups like Silversun Pickups. Watch the video for their song Lights & Sounds here.

Look North (Pop Punk) -- Look North, out of Rhode Island, is the newest addition to the Asava Music/District Kills family, and the debut artist for Asava Music Group. Fronted by YouTube sensation, Rod Pires, Look North delivers a driven pop-rock sound, and coupled with an absolutelty unforgettable and passionate live show. Look North just finished recording their debut a EP at Maximum Sound Studios in Danvers, to be released this summer on Asava Music, followed by a full touring schedule, so stay tuned for tons of new stuff coming from the Look North dudes.

The Steven Hackney (Instrumental Rock/Guitarist) -- Steven currently has 35 songs on BandSoup for your enjoyment. Steven Hackney has over 430 songs, 17 guitars, 5.5 years of playing, and 3.5 years of songwriting and recording. Specializes in distorted electric guitar, Bass guitar, reinventing acoustic guitar tunings, and drum beats.

Jesse Rhodes (Acoustic/Singer-Songwriter) -- Singer/Songwriter from Santa Barbara.

CanyonLands (Pysch-Rock) -- Tragically underrated droney pysch-rock.

Lee Younger (Acoustic/Singer-Songwriter) -- Demo record from a Knoxville based musician.

Rachel Louise (Pop/Singer-Songwriter) -- Holland based Singer-Songwriter that just released her debut EP, Living in Holland. Vanessa Carlton/Regina Spektor-esque.

New Video: Cerebellion- Not the Final Destination

Based in Orange County, CEREBELLION makes its video debut with the hard-hitting, energetic single "Not the Final Destination" from the album Inalienable.  The video was filmed in Yorba Linda, CA at CEREBELLION's studio with Director Anthony Rico and crew. The idea behind the video was to "capture the energy and excitement of our live show" states vocalist Joe Arnold. Vying not to go with the standard live footage video, "we felt we could create something more interesting visually while still maintaining that raw, down and dirty feel," continues Joe.  This is the first single from the genre-bending debut album Inalienable, which has been extremely well received by fans and critics alike.

One-Eyed Doll

Described as Strawberry Shortcake meets Gwar and Valentine's Day meets Halloween with the visual impact of Japanese Anime, One-Eyed Doll is an award-winning Austin, Texas power rock duo with a loyal global fan base and extensive international press exposure.

In 2010 and 2009 the group swept the SXSW Music Awards in categories such as Best New Band, Best Punk Band, Best Metal Band, Best Goth Band, Best Acoustic Guitarist, Best Producer, Best Drummer and Best Female Vocalist. The group has independently released three full-length albums, appears in Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines, and has left several national tours in its wake including major anime conventions (DragonCon, AniMix, IKKiCON, Anime Overload, ShadoCon, etc.).

Blazing the band's wildfire buzz amongst their growing legions of religiously crazed fans is One-Eyed Doll's cult leader: the impossible-not-to-love Kimberly Freeman, whose punishment is so sweet you'll beg for more.

Freeman and Sewell have been working together in the studio since 2006. As Kimberly's career-long record producer, he became an integral part of the band's unique sound and even played instruments on the albums. With this experience in mind, Jason joined as drummer in late 2009.

One-Eyed doll claims three commercially released albums. From 2007 to 2008 with the release of the debut album, "Hole," Freeman's small cult following exploded into a global fan base, setting a new standard for the modern independent guerrilla DIY business structure.

One-Eyed Doll released "Monster" in November 2008, once again under the precise hand of veteran producer [and now drummer] Jason Rufuss Sewell. The new album debuted, to the triumph of their inherently eccentric and diverse following, the group's signature dark, heavy hits, "Fight" and "Monster", blending seamlessly with radio pop style ballads like "Brief Candle" and "Pretty Song".

The 2010 album, "Break" is the latest One-Eyed Doll release. Kimberly's intense songwriting is the feature of this collection, highlighted by Jason Rufuss Sewell's heavy beats. Laden with murder ballads, theatrical peaks, dynamic lows, this album has been, by far, the most popular to date amongst the growing global fan community.

Hydrovibe

Hydrovibe

You've got to love the story of Hydrovibe that starts in Louisiana with vocalist Heather St. Marie collaborating with guitarist Mat Dauzat to create a sound combining dynamic, guitar-driven rock with powerful vocals. St. Marie and Dauzat move to LA and the very week of their arrival, Mat auditions and is hand-picked by Sharon and Kelly Osbourne to play lead guitar in Kelly’s band, immediately launching a worldwide tour supporting her debut album “SHUT UP” on Sony Records.

While on tour, Dauzat and St. Marie continue writing music via the internet. Upon Mat’s return, they begin recording demos and complete the line up with drummer Philippe Mathys and bass player Eliot Lorango. The four decide to delve into the budding DIY music business model and release their first album independently.

Hydrovibe

While mixing their debut album “Nothing Left To Lose”, Lion’s Gate/Twisted Pictures notifies the band that their track “Killer Inside” would be featured in the upcoming third installment of the blockbuster SAW film franchise. The band quickly switches gears and releases a 5-song EP (which also features a guest vocal appearance from the film’s star SHAWNEE SMITH).

Then the band's offered a spot on METAL EDGE Magazine sponsored “Corporate Punishment Tour” with Amity Lane featuring Kevin Palmer and Josh Moates of Trust Company and hit the road. Hydrovibe continues to tour the U.S. heavily for 2 years sharing stages with Static-X, Taproot, Soulfly, Trust Company, Powerman 5000, (Hed) P.E., Black Stone Cherry, Soil, and Drowning Pool.

Hydrovibe

When the band comes home and revisits the mostly finished album, they quickly decide to re-record to capture the new strength and intensity and to perform the more honed, road-tested versions of the songs. Hydrovibe enters Mad Dog Studios in Burbank, CA with Kevin Lamb to re-track the album. The band also enlists Kevin Churko, (Ozzy Osbourne, In This Moment, Five Finger Death Punch) who takes a break from his work on the new Ozzy album to mix the album’s first single “Fame”.

Hydrovibe kicks off 2010 by signing a deal with Japanese record label SPINNING that will release “Nothing Left To Lose” in Japan -Today!
