BandSoup Blog Exposure

Blog Exposure:
Album Reviews, Videos, & More!

Help Us Help You in 2012.

Want To Be Featured On Our Blog?

2012 has been treating us well so far and I hope it has been just as kind to you! On top of the continual growth of our music community, our blog has new contributors to help spotlight some of the site's finest emerging artists. We want to write more album reviews and artist features in 2012 so it would be a huge help if you could send your new albums/EPs for review, videos, and any press releases regarding tours and album releases directly to our staff. If you have a new album set to release in 2012, we would love to know about it. By sending us your press releases and music to review before the album's release date, BandSoup can help increase buzz and visibility before it hits the shelves.

Music videos are also great to post on the blog. If you have a new music video, live performance, interview, or vlog, please send those over as well.

To send us your album for review, press release, video, news, or anything else you deem blog-worthy, fire up an e-mail to:

blog@bandsoup.com

NOTE: For anything to be featured on the BandSoup Blog, you must first share at least one song on our main site: www.bandsoup.com. If you have shared music in the past and have a new album/single out, it would really be cool if you shared the new song/s on the site. Free albums/EPs and free single song downloads are also great blog material, so let us now about those as well.

Contests/Giveaways

In the near future, we would also love to run a few contests/giveaways. If you're interested and have any material to be used in contests/giveaways, please let us know.

BandSoup's goal is to help uplift and promote independent bands and solo artists. We all know how tough it is to get your music out to the masses and to get press exposure, so we would love to get closer to our bands in 2012 and help build those bridges. Keeping us updated via e-mail is the best way to make this happen!

We hope to hear from you soon,

Team BandSoup

* Please don't send in any albums/EPs that are over a year old. Sending in an album/EP for a review does not gaurantee a review or feature on the blog.

BandSoup 2011 Christmas/Holiday Compilation

BandSoup.com wants to exit an excellent 2011 with a big holiday bang!

We would love to put together a FREE compilation of christmas/holiday music featuring numerous bands that have joined our site this year. If you would like to submit a song or cover (old or new), please email your track to:
ryan@bandsoup.com, and then upload the song to the main site. When you send the track, please attach the .mp3 file (192kbps or better is best) or download link in the email and be sure to give us the proper title and any background info related to the song. By sending us the song via email, you then give us permission to use the song in the compilation and make it available as a free download to the public.

The song can be a cover or original and can be about any upcoming holiday or related subject. Any BandSoup band that has uploaded a track to the site can submit a track. We are shooting for 10-20 songs on the compilation, so unfortunately not every band will make the final cut.

Thank you for joining us in our first year. We have truly enjoyed the ENDLESS amount of awesome music all of you have shared and continue to share with us.

Happy Holidays and Rock On!

The deadline for music submissions will be December 14th at Noon CST.

Did you know that BandSoup has a Tumblr blog program?! It's great fun. Look at William H. Macy's twin brothers face in the above pic-- it tells you everything.

Follow us, recommend us, re-blog/like the songs that you enjoy.

Connect With Ryan of Team BandSoup on Facebook!

As the BandSoup v2.0 release peeks over the horizon, BandSoup's Community Manager (Ryan) has opened up a personal Facebook profile so he can connect with all of the site's listeners and artists. Please click the link to visit his profile and add him as a friend.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, feedback, errors to report, want to bug him about featuring your band on the blog, or just want to shoot the breeze-- you now have a direct contact!

This will NOT be used as a page to spam your feed with links or BandSoup related articles. We simply would like to get closer to our audience and offer a direct contact/help desk agent for you on Facebook.

Thanks to the participating listeners and artists for your attention so far. This "little grassroots project that could" has continued to move forward because of people like you. We look forward to moving onto the next level with you!

Sketches of SXSW Archetypes: The View from a Local Company

BandSoup has returned home safely from their trip to SXSW and after numerous run-ins with unoriginal, pseudo-apathetic, bottom feeding hipsters, it's a good feeling to be home again. Even though the good people at SoftwareAdvice.com were extremely nice in their write ups, they covered the various personalities one would see at SXSW 2011 to perfection. Here is what they came up with...

As a local Austin company, we have a love/hate relationship with South by Southwest (SXSW). We love the shows and the action, but parking sure is a drag right now. More than anything, we’re enthralled by all the visitors to our small, Texas town. As a diversion from our day jobs (writing about electronic health records software, and such), we thought we’d sketch out some of the archetypical characters we’ve been seeing around town during the festival.

INTERACTIVE

Aspiring EntrepreneurAspiring Entrepreneur
“We’re Twitter meets Zynga with an API that transforms the social graph.”
He’s an alpha male in a beta body, rockin’ the hoodie and flip flops – just like Zuck. SXSW Interactive attracts a swarm of these php-smokin’, eager beavers. You’ll find him at “Business Model 101: How To Actually Make Money?,” but he wishes he was at the Android Developer Meetup. You’ll often find the PR Chick and the Venture Capitalist in hot pursuit – a stunning reversal of the social order that was in place during college, last year. At least one of these aspiring entrepreneurs will join the digital elite within a year. And OMG, you totally ordered a Bulleit on the Rocks next to him at the Mashable party.

Venture CapitalistVenture Capitalist
“This is the last year I fly commercial to Austin.”
The truth is that the tier-one VCs still won’t leave Menlo unless it’s on a G6 to Aspen. The ones you’ll find at SXSW are the other 1,000 who, while Stanford-educated, accomplished, and handsome, are awkwardly sandwiched between angel investors and Russian billionaires. They realize they’ve got to hump it down to South By to meet the next Ev Williams if they want in on the series A. Aside from the good looks, you’ll have a hard time spotting the Venture Capitalist by his attire, since he dresses down to his audience (no, the hoodie ain’t gonna happen). Instead, peel your ears for cliche’s like, “We’re active money. We really roll up our sleeves to make it happen for our portfolio companies.”

SXSW Tagline Contest

BandSoup needs your help, so it's contest time!

Team members from the site will be attending this year's SXSW festivities and are preparing numerous handouts and promotional materials to pass out. For our new postcards, we need a brand new tagline that sums up the BandSoup brand. Since we already have "The People's Music" as one tagline, we thought those "people" should create the new one!

After the contest ends, team members will decide their favorite tagline and winner. The winner will receive an amazing BandSoup package consisting of numerous CDs, t-shirts, and other merchandise from bands and artists on BandSoup.com!

Please send your tagline ideas to: ryan@bandsoup.com

BandSoup.com 2011

Happy New Year from BandSoup.com!

BandSoup is preparing a grassroots campaign starting January 3rd to help draw more artists and music fans to the site. Please read below on how you can help!

BandSoup is making big strides in 2011 to become a larger and smarter music community. On top of constructing a new interface, adding new interactive tools to engage users, updating our affiliated blog, and strengthening our online marketing presence, we are making it a point to interact with current BandSoup users to gain their insight and experiences in using the site. In a few months, we will have new features available on the main site and a survey form for users to fill out to help the BandSoup team smooth out any of the site's bugs and shortcomings, as well as making your experience more fun and engaging. Until then-- we need your help.
We need to continue to have artists upload music and encourage music fans to visit, listen, and bookmark. To get BandSoup out to the masses, we will rely heavily on grassroots, word of mouth marketing through social media networks, links, blogs, and daily conversations. Here is how you could help us continue our mission to spread independent music around the world:

  • Link people to our website http://www.bandsoup.comand http://blog.bandsoup.com via twitter, facebook, myspace, or your blog/website.

  • Continue to upload your new music to BandSoup.

  • Keep us up to date with your news, album releases, free music downloads, videos, and anything else you might want to share on our blog (email to:ryan@bandsoup.com).

  • Let us know any suggestions that you may have for the site or blog.
We really appreciate your time and music and look forward to hearing your new tunes!
Sincerely,
Team BandSoup
