This Week on BandSoup (6/13-6/20)

 
Another week in the books and yet another week of great uploads here on BandSoup! Here are a few of the bands that you must hear in case you missed them spinning in the bowl. Remember, you can always click "more songs" on the main page or click into the search box, press the space bar once, and hit enter to see the latest uploads in order.

FM Pilots (Pop/Rock) --  Packed with chiming guitars, soaring vocals and an immediately memorable chorus, “No Time to Waste” simply feels like summer.  

Mitten (Indie Pop) -- Little Dragon-ish. After applying for the same Craigslist job five years ago, singer Maia Macdonald and producer Joanna Katcher bonded over whiskey and salt bagels. In late 2009, the pair began timidly emailing eachother song ideas and soon began writing music together as Mitten.  

Swift Science (Blues Rock) -- Swift Science is a blues-rock trio from Boone, North Carolina, started by Guitarist/Lead Vocalist JD Rust. After parting ways with Asheville-based Do it to Julia in July of 2009, Rust began writing songs for a brand new project of his own influenced by R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, The Black Keys, and the White Stripes (RIP).

The Belligerents (Dance Rock) -- An dance-punk-electro tune from a new band from Brisbane, Australia. It's from the band's debut EP called 'Less Arty More Party'

Asker (Indie Rock) -- Brit-Rock influenced indie rock. 

Shmoe (Alternative Rock) -- Robot rock you can shake your tail feather with.

Tenpenny Nail (Metal) -- Infectious Punk-Metal from the UK.

Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire (Hip Hop) -- Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, is a Brooklyn based Emcee armed with a brash and rebellious personality. Unconventional, eccentric and groundbreaking, eXquire is in a unique position to re-invigorate hip-hop with his ability to poke fun at tragedy, laugh at danger, and bend the boundaries of the genre imposed by stagnant gatekeepers. 

The Crow Murder (Metal) -- A five piece metal band rising out of the cultural melting pot that is the UAE. Bringing together a vast diversity of influences The Crow Murder creates a sound all of their own. Started at the end of 2008 so still a band in its infancy they have quickly established a good fan base in the UAE. Renowned for their energetic live shows in the region this band is hell bent on securing their position as the next big thing to come out of the current metal surge from the Middle East.

Open Mike Eagle (Hip Hop) --  Open Mike Eagle is poised to become the latest in an illustrious line of MCs to step out of the Los Angeles underground and onto the national stage. He has settled in with LA's Project Blowed, co-founding the crews Thirsty Fish and the Swim Team, while earning a rep as both an intelligent rhyme writer and a formidable battle MC.

Death Grips (Experimental Hip Hop) --  Almost a year ago, Zach Hill started jamming with some friends and neighbors around his hometown of Sacramento, CA. Overtime, their hangouts slowly mutated into a full-fledged hip hop project called Death Grips, which features two other collaborators, judging from the image at the bottom of their website, thirdworlds.net.

The Silas Dogan Band (Southern Rock) -- The Silas Dogan Band is Country Rockin’ Blues music
It’s like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Waylon Jennings and The Allman Brothers Band all showed up to the same Jam session

Pennan Brae (Singer-Songwriter) --  Pennan Brae is a singer-songwriter from Vancouver, BC. He has 3 releases; 'Shaded Joy', 'Amber Glow' & 'Early Rise'. Additional info is at www.pennanbrae.com.

Die Pretty (Alternative Rock) -- Die Pretty formed in 2009 when brother and sister duo (Skip and Sarah) recorded their first full length album from the streets of Brooklyn NYC. “Bittersweet," was picked up by an indie label and spread throughout Europe via Unconform Records in February 2009. With a fan base growing overseas and a lot of great press, Die Pretty began playing regularly in the New York City music scene. Their music is a fusion of pop and rock.

LOomis (Lo-Fi) -- LoOmis is currently an experimental analog recording project from Patrick Bailey. Bailey may be best knows for his guitar work in New Orleans based instrumental math rock band Smiley With A Knife. LoOmis is described as lo fi mathy indie rock.
